I am so blessed and privileged to have had the opportunity to train as a medical doctor in Cambridge University. Over the years, I have heard people ask “What do Doctors know about diet and nutrition?” The basic medical training is a minimum of 5 years. For Student doctors to “know everything”, the course would need to be prolonged for at least an extra 2.5 years, to incorporate all the others sub-specialties that people expect doctors to have a vast knowledge and expertise in! It’s not practical and we are not superheroes! The airline pilot cannot check in the luggage, load the luggage onto the plane, check the tickets, serve the food and fly the plane as well.
However, comments like those above and my inherent appetite for all things whole and healthy spurred me on to obtain further qualifications. At work, I am known as the “Diet” and “Mental” doctor! But in some areas such as mental health, I only have basic skills.
But allow me to introduce you to other allied professionals.
